Description/Job Summary

Pay Rate: $18.31/hr

Performs semi-skilled work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry and furniture assembly, mechanical and minor electrical maintenance to include maintenance of company equipment, buildings and grounds and maintenance of industrial food service kitchen equipment Must be available to work regularly. Must be able to work weekend hours, emergency overtime and holidays (as required).

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform semi-skilled work involving painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering materials and supplies, loading / unloading materials, laying out materials and equipment for projects.
  • Performs cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, and debris, cleaning work areas and performing touch-up work as needed.
  • May operate power tools such as power washer, leaf blower and basic hand tools such as brooms, shovels, rakes, hoes, etc.
  • Inspect and ensure that all lights, fixtures are in working order; make any necessary repairs.
  • Inspection and minor repair to air conditioning systems and related equipment for proper functioning; perform related maintenance tasks as required.
  • Assist in a variety of carpentry and building tasks.
  • Repair, tables, shelves, cabinets, countertops and other wood equipment and fixtures.
  • Install tile and carpet as necessary.
  • Make repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs and ceilings.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting, staining or retexturing.
  • Apply paint to building interiors, fixtures, equipment or exteriors; strip and paint or stain cabinets, doors and woodwork.
  • Install, maintain and repair plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as faucets, sinks, toilets.
  • Unstop drains and toilets.
  • Operate, maintain, adjust and repair equipment and tools necessary for performing maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to understand and following written and oral instructions.
  • Communication and interpersonal relationships to interact effectively with co-workers, supervisors and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Knowledge of:

  • Basic operations, tools and terms used in building maintenance and repair work.
  • Safe work practices.
  • Safe operation of a variety of hand and power tools.

Ability to:

  • Learn to use the required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the company.


  • One year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.


  • High School diploma or GED required.
